HOW DOES YOUR REMOTE PLAYER WORK?

Ambient is designed to work discretely in the background of your business - automatically playing exactly the right music at the right time, varying the mood to suit different times of day.

The remote player is our own proprietary black box , the perfect device to work with our system - it sits out of sight doing its job connected to your speaker system and wifi.

Once connected, the Remote Player is accessed via any web browser - on a desktop, tablet or mobile from any location. If you want to pre-schedule your music and minimise any interference from your team, the remote player is perfect.

Multiple players can also be managed together under a single login - either for different zones or locations. It's a simple, effective and scalable solution.

All yearly subscriptions include a free Ambient Remote Player.

WILL AMBIENT WORK WITH MY SONOS OR BOSE SYSTEM?

Yes it does - because Ambient gives you the choice to access our service via our Android app or a browser based web app, you get maximum flexibility of which hardware you use.

All Ambient hardware (most of which is FREE when taking out an annual subscription) simply plugs direct into your existing sound system via: Line Out (3.5mm) to RCA, SPDIF (optical) or HDMI (digital) and is remotely managed via any browser on the same LAN - hands free!

So whether you use a computer, tablet or mobile or the Ambient Remote Player - you can connect to any speaker system via a cable or bluetooth. Simple!

WILL I BE 100% RELIANT ON CONSISTENT BROADBAND FOR PLAYOUT?

Ambient uses its own Patent Pending technology to stream tracks. Ambient encapsulates its encrypted streams in 44Khz 16 Bit FLAC/ALAC, which are lossless codecs. Bitrate varies upon the complexity and other characteristics of the music, but is typically up to 1.4Mbps.

Our App (and hardware) will pull the streams progressively - meaning it will pull as much content as possible, as fast as possible.

Our 'Big Buffer' technology is resilient to internet blips and even short term outages (typically up to approximately half an hour) before audio is impacted - so you can be sure of robust playout and crystal clear audio.

Typically, we recommend using Ambient with broadband speed in excess of 3Mbps. But don't worry if this is a problem, we can 'rate limit' your service to the highest grade MP3 at 320Kbps if required, so you'll be just fine!
